Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Grublette collects, why, and how it's used. Grublette is a food and drink discovery app that helps people decide where to eat and drink by spinning a wheel of real, nearby restaurants and bars.

Information we collect

If you create an account: your email address, and the username you choose. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google as part of that sign-in.

As you use the app: your spin history, your saved Favorites (organized by city so you can find what's close by wherever you are), which restaurants you've Grubvoted, and your daily spin streak, all tied to your account so they show up correctly across sessions and devices.

If you search by location: the location you type in, or, only if you choose to tap the location button, your device's precise location via your browser's own location permission. We never access your location without that direct action on your part.

If you're a restaurant or bar signing up for an enhanced listing: your business name, address, and phone number, your name and role at the business, your contact phone number, a business email (required, since it's how we verify future edit requests genuinely come from your business), and optionally delivery links, social media links, a reservation link, and your happy hour hours.

If you pay for an enhanced listing: payment is handled entirely by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Grublette never receives or stores your card details directly, that information goes straight to Stripe under Stripe's own privacy practices.

Automatically: basic usage analytics through Google Analytics, to understand how the app is used and improve it. This does not include anything you type into a search unless you're specifically interacting with account features while logged in.

How we use this information

• To operate the core features of the app: search, spin history, Favorites, Grubvote, and Happy Hour matching
• To identify and display restaurants that have signed up for enhanced listings
• To verify a restaurant's identity before publishing a new listing or applying an edit, by checking submitted information against the business's own public listing
• To determine whether a logged-in account belongs to the owner of a published listing, so we can show that account a Restaurant Dashboard
• To process payments for restaurant enhancements, through Stripe
• To send you account-related emails, like a password reset, when you request one
• To understand overall usage patterns and improve the app over time

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

Restaurant Dashboard analytics

If your account's email matches a published listing's registration email, you may see a Restaurant Dashboard showing anonymous, aggregate interaction counts for that listing: how many times it's been shown as a result, and how many times each of its links (delivery, reservation, social) has been tapped. These counts are never tied to which individual user performed an action, we only ever show restaurants a total.

Third-party services we rely on

Grublette is built using several third-party services, each of which processes certain data as part of providing their service to us:

• Google Places and Maps — to search for and display real restaurant and bar information
• Firebase (Google) — to handle account sign-in and store your account data securely
• Stripe — to process payments from restaurants purchasing an enhanced listing
• Resend — to send transactional emails, like password resets
• Netlify — to host the website and run its backend functions
• Google Analytics — to understand how the app is used

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing the data they process on our behalf.

Your choices

• You can use most of Grublette's core search and spin features without ever creating an account
• You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app, under your account menu. This removes your account, your Favorites, your spin history, and your Grubvotes, and cannot be undone. You can also request this by contacting us directly (see below)
• Location access is entirely opt-in, tied to a specific button you choose to tap

Restaurants who submit information but don't complete payment

If a restaurant fills out our signup form but doesn't complete payment, that submission is stored but never made visible anywhere on the app. It has no effect on what any user of Grublette sees.

Children's privacy

Grublette is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as Grublette's features change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
